 JOIN THE CONVERSATION

Each quarter I host two conversation groups on themes I know lots of folks face and feel alone. I want to help you connect with others in meaningful ways, build supportive community, and share resources to support you in these unique situations.

Watch the videos I’ve made inviting you to these groups to learn more.

Two groups coming Fall 2019:

DETAILS

Both groups will meet for four weekly video call sessions on Friday afternoons. All meetings will be recorded if you miss a call you can always catch up later.

These groups aim to offer an informal opportunity to share stories, experiences, and questions with peers in similar non-traditional relationships. I’ll offer some guidance and related resources and tools but this will not be a lecture or webinar. My greatest hope is to help connect you to one another in meaningful ways.

Think friendly, collaborative, intimate, vulnerable and supportive.

Groups are $75 for the four-part conversation. Once you’ve registered you’ll receive an email with a call link, an initial questionnaire and a reflection guide to begin our conversations. I can’t wait to have you join us!

 Queer/Bisexual Women in “Straight”Relationships

SUNDAYS 8:00-9:00 CENTRAL/6:00-7:00 PACIFIC

BEGINNING OCTOBER 6, 2019

We’ll gather for four one-hour video calls to focus on some of the most common questions I hear from clients. These include:

  • How do I come out to my partner/spouse/boyfriend?

  • How do I explore my queer, lesbian, or bisexual side while maintaining my partnership?

  • How do I address the invisibility I feel in both LGBTQ and straight spaces?

  • How do I come out to people who have known me as straight? What do we tell our kids, family, and shared community?

  • How can I incorporate my full identity instead of feeling compartmentalized?

  • Why is this surfacing now? Was this part of me always here? Where did it go? Am I “really gay”?

  • How do I support my partner on his path without taking on additional emotional labor or reinforcing codependent patterns?

  • Can we stay in relationship through this? Should we open our relationship? Should we attempt a platonic partnership?

  • If we stay monogamous how can I build queer, lesbian, or bisexual community?

SUNDAYS 8:00-9:00 CENTRAL/6:00-7:00 PACIFIC

BEGINNING NOVEMBER 3, 2019

We’ll gather for four one-hour video calls to focus on some of the most common questions I hear from clients. These include:

  • How do we establish a sense of balance or equity when our intimacy needs are different?

  • What’s in this poly/mono arrangement for me? What am I looking to gain or learn from this?

  • How will I know if this is too much for me?

  • Can people really make a relationship like ours work?

  • What are my individual needs for intimacy and how do I want to get them met?

  • How do I manage the anxiety/jealousy/insecurity that comes up?

  • How do I clarify my boundaries without impeding on my partner’s autonomy?

  • How do I discern what I really need from the emotional reactions I am having?

  • What of what we really need is to break up?

  • How do we explain what we’re doing to or kids, family, and/or community?

 WHAT THESE CONVERSATIONS ARE:

SPACIOUS - These conversations are designed to allow wandering, mistake-making, playfulness, and LOTS of exploration. We hold the true that there is no one right way to do relationships for all. We hold true that what is best for me may not be best for another. We hold space for all the complexity that arises within those truths.

INVITING - We strive for a friendly, warm and open atmosphere within our circles.

HONEST & INTIMATE - We work to bravely share ourselves with one another so we can more fully be ourselves.

WHAT THESE CONVERSATIONS ARE NOT:

CONVINCING - These groups are not designed to convince you of any one agenda. We know there are lots of healthy paths to take. It is our work to discern which path is best right now.

JUDGEMENT - We’re not here to judge one another.  And that wouldn't really help you anyway, would it?

HEALTHCARE - It's not a mental health support group or replacement for psychotherapy (aimed at assessing, diagnosing or treating individual mental health conditions or substance use).  We gather as a supportive community of learners and explorers growing together.

MAGIC WAND - This process is not an immediate change creator.  Instead it helps you identify and understand what steps can help you to move forward with integrity.

She knows all relationships need a tune-up from time to time and has been praised by clients for her friendly non-judgmental approach to couples work.

She understands first-hand the struggles non-traditional couples and “alternative relationships” face as they navigate the abundant joys and challenges that come with a less traveled path. Her clients span the globe and a full spectrum of relationship possibilities.

When she’s not teaching, coaching or consulting you can find her in her gorgeous urban garden, hiking Door County with her tiny dog, cooking lavish dinners, playing with her two sweet kids, or traveling the world with her partner, Rae.
